One of my biggest dreams is to go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. There’s lights and shining colors and all of the year’s latest and greatest pieces of technology laid out for you in fanciful displays by the tech industry’s biggest players. Samsung, Sony, TomTom – they’re all there in one amazing event of silicon grandeur!
I tried contacting the CEA to see if I could intern there over the summer but I got no response. I even spent a little time seeing if I could go as a press representative from my school. That didn’t work out either. So I’m at school. And I’ll have to find out information like most other commoners – through the Internet. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of websites offering live coverage:
- Engadget - this site offers a live stream coverage on the floor and a surplus of articles about products from the biggest tech companies.
- CNET - In addition to livestream and articles about the gadgets, there are a few gems about the event itself. I also question the need for dancing booth girls. CNET even has CES/Celeb news.
- Official CES Youtube Channel - This page will probably have a ton of resources after the show is over but currently has a lot of coverage of only a few companies and resources for individuals at the show.
- TechCrunch - This is gadget-tastic. Meaning that the articles actually focus on the device itself rather than on all the new features it represents for this upcoming season. A lot of the introductions are provided through videos. Also TechCrunch was also nice enough to do a full pre-show coverage.
- Mashable - Although Mashable also covers CES, I linked to an article with infographics on the current trends from the show. Which companies and which products are being talked about the most in case you want to hone in the biggest stories from the event.
- Don’t really know where to start? A PCWorld writer attempted to categorize the event into 4 themes. This might help you narrow down you search as you roll through all the devices you can dream about.
- If you don’t want to fuss with reading articles at all, PCMag.com provides a straightforward photo gallery to check out devices, keynotes, and celebs at the show.
